Maybe the deal was “ if fit, he makes the squad” which given what we thought we were getting would have been a no brainer to accept. Why put him in the squad then? Just all feels a bit odd.

Yeah, and I'm not sure it's entirely his fault. It's quite weird that he's been half-frozen out - neither dismissed from the squad (like Dahoud) or used in games. There seems to be no issue with his attitude in training or as part of the squad from what has been said either. He doesn’t come on when we are winning, he doesn’t come on when we are losing. I’m disappointed tbh.
All the outlets seemed to quite clearly state that there wasn't any add ons when the deal was signed in August. Brighton covering 80% of Ansu's wages, no fees. Why put him in the squad then? Just all feels a bit odd.
I can’t imagine his work here is going to add much money into his feeI think he may be a bit fragile and we don’t want to send him home more injured than he has been here. Not sure he has really settled in (absence through injury will not have helped), nor that he follows RDZ exacting instructions on the pitch. He’s a good player but i am not convinced that he is a real fit for us, especially as Barca seem to value him so highly.
Be honest, if it wasn't for the Barca connection, Ansu Fati would have caused about as much of a ripple based purely on his performances in the Stripes as, say, Jeremy Sarmiento or Deniz UndavI think he may be a bit fragile and we don’t want to send him home more injured than he has been here. This. Seems far more likely to have been a gamble on the player kicking on in his rehabilitation from injury and making a major contribution to propelling us into the business end of multiple competitions. Ultimately didn't work out, but worth the imaginative punt shirley? The idea that we're not playing him to "save money" !! - given our form, stretched squad, our £100m+ profit, the largesse of our owner and our commitment to the deal in the first place - is somewhat fanciful. We're not some L1 side living hand to mouth.
Far far more likely RDZ doesn't fancy him, he's not fit after the injury, and or other reason - but saving ££ . Really ?
I don't think that is true at all. He's 21 and scored 4 goals for us in what, 11 appearances for us before his injury? Twice in the Europa league. Then hasn't been the same since. If he was an academy graduate I think we'd all have been very excited about him- we all got excited about Connolly's 2 goals in 300 games at that age.Be honest, if it wasn't for the Barca connection, Ansu Fati would have caused about as much of a ripple based purely on his performances in the Stripes as, say, Jeremy Sarmiento or Deniz Undav
This, and at the end of the day, let us be honest, we do not need him, we are not pushing for Europe and he rather hinders the team when he plays.I think he may be a bit fragile and we don’t want to send him home more injured than he has been here. Agree. Was starting to look very good until the injury. Unfortunately that seems to have effectively ended the opportunity for him and us.I don't think that is true at all. Yeah. If the club don't want to use him – and he knows the deal (if that even IS the situation) – then send him back to Barca now!Why put him in the squad then? Just all feels a bit odd.
Bye bye Fati, Fati bye byeeeee.Yeah. If the club don't want to use him – and he knows the deal (if that even IS the situation) – then send him back to Barca now!
I'm not convinced the loan fee would have a top-up for performances anyway. Isn't it enough money the club is spaffing?
