I was about to say that I paid on the gate last time I went to Lords, but then had a depressing, gear grinding moment as I realised that was 12 years ago. Urgh.
6th wicket falls just as I was mentally writing the game off.
Although the moment was somewhat sullied by the Yorkshire commentator referring to us as SURREY.:rant::rant::angry::angry::angry::rant::rant::rant::angry::angry::angry:
He did immediately apologise, to be fair. :lolol:
It's 5 in total, across the 6 matches that actually saw play. The first test didn't feature a single LBW for either side, neither did the ODI played after the third match was abandoned. The remaining matches saw one each.
It's not particularly unusual for a test in Australia to not see any...
On the subject, you know that 1970/71 Ashes series which we WON that everybody mithers about because we didn't get a single LBW decision? Anybody know/fancy a guess at how many LBWs Australia had in the same series?
That was my first thought based on the still you posted, but assuming I flicked back to watch the same appeal (a couple of overs before he was out?) I'd guess hitting about 3/4s of the way up.
Earlier on I happened to read an article about the cameras all the umpires are wearing, which are...
Because he's sloooowwwww.
Seriously though, the role he'd play in a bowling attack you'd have him up against Anderson and Woakes (and numerous other 80-ish mile an hour bowlers) over the last decade or so, and with the best will in the world you'd never pick him over Anderson or Woakes.
Thought I was off the hook then for a couple of seconds.
I know more catches are dropped than most people would think, but I still think Root's some way short of the top tier of slip catchers. Even in this Yorkshire XI I'd think Lyth's a better slip fielder.
Edit: I didn't expect my point to...
Interesting that they just mentioned having to get used to the slope down the pitch at Hove.
You'd think it'd help playing at a ground with a similar slope. Like, I don't know, Headingley for example.
