Given how often he sends keepers the wrong way, I wonder if the Villa keeper simply did the complete opposite to everything his instincts were telling him to do ???
Definitely not.
Two more penalties with the keeper going the wrong way and both times he was looking at the ball, not the keeper as he struck it again.
1.41 and 3.40 third replay from behind goal, he's looking down, just as he always does
It must be body shape
Maybe some early eyes/psychological stuff, then backed up by a lot of work on body shape at the point of contact is sufficient to send the keeper the wrong way most of the time
That's the most detailed breakdown I have heard. Don't know if it's the best but with the hips..., sorry Forest just scored, lost my train of thought
I agree, which makes me think it's his run up, and the way he hits the ball with some sort of feint at the last second. It works, which is the most important thing
I'm pretty sure that isn't what Joao Pedro does though, as I'm sure he looks down at the ball as he strikes it. He watches the keeper on the run up, but looks down as he hits it. I now need to see a highlights reel of all hs penalties to confirm what I'm thinking
Toney (and Hemed) never...
