Your aim to to find the solution in the fewest possible attempts.
Having 2 correct letters after the first attempt sets you up well to get the answer quite soon.
Your second attempt was never going to be the solution but you could have found a word using the known letters which could / will be.
Oh, looks like I'm setting the standard for today. I spend some time deliberating on go 2 whether or not to continue with my normal strategy and then again on 3 which I felt had a very low chance of success and wouldn't eliminate many if any letters if it was wrong:
