I hear you, bit those "glamorous" continental appointments ended up being damp squibs. Rather different to RDZ who brought us a 6th placed finish and European football.

I can remember PB stating a while ago that wherever possible, when it came to making managerial appointments, the club would target applicants were out of contract or not currently employed,so they could avoid being held to ransom by other clubs, and having to pay compensation, a la the RDZ...

That can only be your opinion, certainly not fact. None of us know what goes on behind closed doors.
